David Lance Goines was a leader of the free speech movement in the 1960's at the University of California at Berkeley. He is the subject of four books, the author of eight, as well as periodic design issues contributor in Communication Arts Magazine. He is also an icon of poster design and illustration for the last thirty years. The posters of Mr. Goines are internationally known, and have appeared in the Smithsonian and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His work has focused on graphic art as opposed to fine art. He is a graphic designer, writer and printer, and his clients include fine restaurants and wineries. The artist's job is to get your attention and keep it long enough for the message to get across. Graphic work is different from fine art, in that it gets treated a bit roughly. Book jackets get worn and tattered. Posters get bent, torn, and put up on a wall with thumbtacks. But the beauty of this medium is that it is made for daily living. We hope you enjoy his Bacchus God of Wine commemorative
Bacchus coins.
