Do you have a plan to achieve career success as we enter the 21st Century? Are you aware that a powerful resume is a vital ingredient of such a plan? Are you saying to yourself, "I'm not looking for a job, so why do I need a resume?"

Our world has changed. Career management and work have been redefined. In this new era, you must be ready to launch a job search, especially if you feel secure in your current position. Today, "jobs" are more like projects, lasting typically from three to five years. To be proactive rather than reactive amidst this chaos, every businessperson must have a career management strategy that includes a current resume and nurtured network connections.

You are responsible for management of your career. Companies cannot promise continuing employment. As Bill Ellermeyer, well known career management futurist aptly states, "Today we are all self-employed."

. . . and, we are all replaceable.

Will you be ready if:

  • Your position is eliminated?
  • A recruiter or network contact calls with the job of your dreams?

A primary benefit of creating a powerful resume is self-sufficiency: the ability to adapt quickly to unexpected change or opportunity. For years, those "in the know" have strongly advised that networking is the best method to find employment. Many of these "gurus" also preach that the resume does not play a major role in producing interviews. It is true that you may get an interview through a network connection without using a resume. However, with email and the web you can be sure that you will be asked to provide your resume. Armed with a powerful resume, my clients generate interviews, even in the most competitive environments: the Internet, recruiters, and classified ads. And so can you.
